Yesterday, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted to lower the county’s general fund millage rate from 7.32 mills to 7.12 mills. Moving forward, I will continue to encourage the Board to chip away at the millage rate until we reach pre-Recession levels.
Cobb County’s strong financial standing is a result of a history of sound financial management, prudent fiscal policies and conservative budgeting practices. Our tax base is solid and the county levies the lowest millage rate of the five core counties in the Atlanta region.
Our hearts are saddened to learn that one of our own - Lance Cpl. Skip Wells of Marietta, GA - was killed during the attack on the U.S. Naval reserve center in Chattanooga. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the loved ones of all who perished on that horrific day.
